Art Institute of Chicago

Today I was exploring the Art institute of Chicago web page for the first time and to be honest I never thought I could found many interesting thing in this web page. It contains a very complete art gallery, collections, shop, videos, educations, exhibitions, and many more items that can easily caught your eye.

Collections tab has many different art works from all over the world from sculpture to textiles, even is a little slow to reload every time you try to click on a new artwork but is totally worth it.If you are looking to make or try to have your own art collection, you even can do it here at the same tab.

Another really interesting activities I found is the "social tab" it has a facebook page, twitter, youtube, blog, etc. There's a youtube video from Marc Chagall, one of the first person in introducing stained glass to the city of Chicago.

I highly recommended this web page, you will find pretty interesting staff and of course you will always learn something new

Invention and Fantasy

Dalata. 2009. aerosol on wall. Graffity gallery.Brazil.

This is one of the very unique  art work I have  had seen in a long time comes from a unknown graffiti artist, is located in one the graffiti gallery in Brazil, is been  recently open for artists from all over the world in the 2009.

This outstanding created animation is made of strange faces, some of these are smiling fishes, and others just very strange that I cannot describe, all the body is full of eyes, their eyes looking at something very specific, like their are  trying to point out something or maybe try to show us a meaning or they are just steering at each other. Some of these faces are smiling creatures gives a live a gigantic dinosaur, by his long tail and front, it looks pretty much like a Apatosaurous.

At the time you are steering this painting your mind starts to explore and starts traveling and you are trying to figure it out why are the smiles for and why their eyes are looking at something, it seems like everything is on perfect harmony and pace-full.

This painting it just one perfect example of Invention and Fantasy, where the art works does not necessary needs to have a meaning or have to be real.

morbid curiosity

For the entire human history, society have always been passion about death, what is beyond life, do people have a "life" after death, have anyone have had cheated it death, all this questions an many more men have always ask himself.

The Richard Harris collection show us how human society makes art out of death and people is been fascinated about this topic. Skulls, war, rituals, paintings, photos, skeletons, and even a human skull can be find in this showroom.

Art from all over the world and some very important artists are also found at the collection.

Its a pretty interesting collection, overrule lots of skulls, all kind of type from paintings, drawings, altars , but it was one that it caught my full attention. Is exposed at the middle of the showroom maybe it weights around 500 lbs. This gigantic chandelier is made of bones, every single of them is been placed in a perfect angle, creating a perfect art work.
